In an earlier time, Google violated EU monopoly laws by automatically setting Google Search to the default search engine in Android and Chrome. Google recently announced improvements to Android.
The Android system will add a search engine screen for the first boot settings, allowing users to select the search engine for the main screen box and Chrome. However, search engines need to join auction for them to be list out on the screen. Many organizations believe that bidding still abuses Google’s dominant position.
The practice will be implemented in EU area in 2020. As for whether it will extend to other regions, there are no news on it.
