Association of Musical Electornics Industry in Japan and the MIDI Manufacturers Association in the United States announced that MIDI specifications will have a major update. The updated specification has been decided to be named “MIDI 2.0”. The new specifications will be as compatible as possible with existing MIDI machines.
The MIDI 2.0 program is currently in the process of prototyping and will be prototype tested and tested for compatibility with existing machines at The 2019 NAMM Show, held in late January.
Although there is no official timetable for the release, it is believed that the appearing of MIDI 2.0 will have a lot of impact on the electronic music industry.
